I have 3 sevcons and two eteks but haven't had the time to work with them yet. By the way, one sevcon/etek pair is for sale for what I paid for it, if someone is interested.
Also, for a while I was making some TI 2811 hardware with a partner as a commercial venture but there wasn't much interest. My sevcon works at full 48 v, 4qd in england makes a controller for these motors but is even more expensive than the sevcon. I believe alltrax makes one as well but you would have to check. as to making your own controller...good luck... the guys that make these things (hi apm controllers) say you will burm up much more in failures than it is worth.
