My sevcon works at full 48 v, 4qd in england makes a controller for these motors but is even more expensive than the sevcon. I believe alltrax makes one as well but you would have to check. as to making your own controller...good luck... the guys that make these things (hi apm controllers) say you will burm up much more in failures than it is worth.
