Jeff is about right. Hard tails are fun and cool for short rides, like
electric, but not a ride you want to take across country. One of the things
we did to help with the ride was to put a mono shock under the seat pan.
Between the shock and front suspension the ride is very nice. I have no
problems riding it for 20-30 miles. Mild vibrations are not an issue and
most of the bigger bumps are absorbed by the seat shock and front forks.

Actually hard tail matched with low range should be okay. Long range
hardtail riders are far and few between (hence the trend to psuedo
hardtails on the build shows to make choppers more useable). I met a
hardtail owner in NE Atlanta who said if I saw his bike on the SW side
of town it was probably stolen! lol (No offense meant to the hardy
souls who ride HT bikes).
