I believe that what Brian is referring to is the topics and how the group uses email to discuss them. When I look at the postings on the 20th, it looks like a blog. You can choose to go to a blog to see the dialogue or not. You can choose to be on the email list of the blog, or not. Here, because it is appears to be email only, you have no choice but to be a participant. While I have an interest in the group and I know that I don't have to read every email I get, my email load has gone up by about 30% or more since being on the list. On February 20, for example, I received 29 emails on the FLEAA topic de jure. I received a total of 61 emails for the day which include my business emails, my personal emails, FLEAA, and spam, so about half of my emails that day were from FLEAA. That's a lot to me. The other thing I noticed is that with a blog, all of the pertinent postings are in one place, so you can look at the history of the topic, whereas with the emails, in my case, they are not. Yes, I know, I can set up a filter and send these emails to the folder for FLEAA, but then sometime I have to go to the folder and "read" or acknowledge each email so I can keep track of the postings. If these topics were done on a blog and I got one email letting me know that the blog for that topic had been set up, then I got one email a day telling me how many responses to the topic had been posted, I could choose to go to the blog and see the dialogue or not. Maybe I'm not set up correctly. In any case, so far my interest in the EV subject is stronger than my annoyance at all of the emails. If I had received two emails, one telling me about a new blog for the topic, and one at the end of the day, telling me that there were 29 postings for that blog, no big deal, but to have my email volume double can get annoying. I will admit that I didn't have much interest in the topic of how little noise EVs make. It's cue, but. I did have interest in the response to the suggestion of approaching Cracker Barrel about becoming charging stations. If these were blog topics, I would have visited the one on the charging stations, and probably ignored the other one, but because I'm on the list, I had no choice but to get it all. I am trying to let the group know what I believe Brian's point is. I hope this helps.

I know you were exploring a couple of different options and not sure what you are looking at currently. As far as the list goes, I am to blame for the string of emails this afternoon and evening. While I know it is not the pure EV/tech-focused topic that some would like, however, it has created discussion and has gotten lots of people to chime in and get involved. And that is what I was hoping for, getting people involved. This email list sits idle for a while then gets used to make an announcement about a meeting or event, and then goes idle again. A few weeks back we had a good conversation going on a conversion project for Scott - and that was great. The topic I posted has gotten some good ideas and discussion going. The topic has strayed a bit from the technical discussions, but the list is used for lots of ideas and topics. I personally would like to see more tech focused discussions going, but they seem hard to get people involved with. As far as bylaws on posting, this list is for our members to discuss anything EV related they want to. None of the emails by members are moderated or screened. The only time a member email gets caught in the filter is if it over 250K in size. Non-members are filtered (most of this is SPAM and garbage). The only real guidelines are: 1) Keep it EV related (hybrids are fine, but this isn't the best place to discuss bio-fuels) 2) Do not use it for commercial solicitations 3) Don't discuss religion or politics here. I think that's it really. We have never formally defined guidelines as we have really wanted to keep the list open and informal. Not every topic is going to be what everyone wants to talk about, but I would ask that if you want to learn about EV conversions and maybe specifically your project, please post it out here! I joined this list to learn about electric car conversions. Are there any bylaws for the postings here?
