Hi Ira,

In brief, corporate and local government fleets in Florida are planning to
convert a total of about 750 Toyota Priuses to plug-in hybrid over the next
year with the A123/Hymotion PHEV conversion kit
(www.a123systems.com/hymotion/), for which they have applied for federal
DOE Clean Cities grants. DOE final approval is expected in August. All of
the conversions are being done by Foreign Affairs Auto in West Palm Beach,
which is A123's authorized Florida installing dealer
(www.foreignaffairsauto.com/pages/hymotion/). The conversion takes several
hours. The A123/Hymotion PHEV conversion kit for the Prius has been crash
tested and meets federal safety standards (NHTSA FMVSS) and has been
emissions tested and meets California emissions standards for aftermarket
plug-in hybrid conversions. (There do not yet exist any federal EPA
emissions standards for aftermarket plug-in hybrid conversions, so
California's emissions standards are what the entire country uses.)

Best regards,

Charles Whalen

Hello,

Would it be possible to get excerpts from Charles' "update on some of the
Clean Cities activities and grants", that's going to happen today?
Observing how other Florida Cities are preparing and working together on
what's coming down the "pike". We are a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan, nonprofit,
research and educational organization and we're doing a mini-survey on
current conditions.

Thanks for your time and look forward to hearing from someone. Take care,

Hi Jerry,

Good question. Nothing got passed this year, not for EVs nor for anything
else. The state faced a $6 billion budget shortfall that had to be
closed,
so the Legislature did not permit any new appropriations nor any new tax
breaks, no exceptions allowed.

Having said that, we are working closely with House Majority Leader Adam
Hasner on some other possibilities, through other channels, for trying to
fund state rebates for plug-in hybrid conversions. It's early and we
still
have a ways to go, but the prospects look fairly good of having something
by
the fall. We'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks,

Charles Whalen

          Hi Shawn and All,

There were proposed EV laws from EV
incentives, no sales tax, no tolls, ect. Does anyone know
what actually got passed?

                             Thanks,

                                    Jerry Dycus
