We have a solution to this problem now. We moved our VS2005 to another machine. We have assigned the website ReportServer and Reports the TCP Port 443, which passes our Firwalls.
We access the solution files on the Development machine, which is hosting the SQL Server and Reporting Services and our Subversion source tree. VS2005 is on my desktop. >From here we change the TargetServerURL to http://10.xx.yy.zz:443/ReportServer. This deploys with no issue. Now moving back to the Development machine, we try the same addressing, including the port inte URL. This works. The other port we were using also works (it was 7090). So here is the answer. If your Web site identification includes a TCP Port, be sure to include it in the TargetServerURL to avoid this problem. Please let me know if this works for you.
