It sounds like you might want to revisit the reasoning behind this client's requirement! Design for manufacture.

I mean how many times are you going to find that the 256th character is key when sorting a series of values? Just a thought... The problem is, the client wants to be able to sort based on this field. I've tried so many different ways (using Text but it's limited to 255 or using Note, HTML publishing field, custom field based on Note) yet none of them can be sorted. Can any of you help me with this, please?
