Thanks William - I'm getting closer J

I noticed that all users had the same last AreaID (141) even though we
are up to around an ID of 450. I checked that AreaID and noticed it has
a machine name added as a user (still not sure why, but will dig further
later). This may have caused the issue perhaps? I've removed it and will
wait for the TFS Services process to run again in about 30 mins. I'm
guessing that the UserPermissions is part of the scheduled task???

BTW - our process template limits the Assigned To users to only those
that are part of the project.

The default Assigned To list I believe contains all users that have
access to the Team Foundation Server (i.e. the Team Foundation Valid
Users group), I didn't think it was restricted based on the project by
default.

Area ID would be the ID of the area hierarchy for the Team Project,
these could reference one of two tables:

TfsWorkItemTracking.dbo.TreeNodes (if the ID is an integer)

TfsIntegration.dbo.tbl_nodes (if the ID is a GUID)

Regard,

William

Subject: RE: [OzTFS] Some users not showing up in Assigned To drop down

Thanks for the explanation William,

The users are in the ADObject table and have the right properties. I
checked the Event log last week and it was clean, but this week I have:

Detailed Message: TF200035: One or more errors occurred when Team
Foundation Server attempted to synchronize with the following Active
Directory identity: Team Foundation Valid Users. Number of errors that
occurred: 1.

An error occurred when synchronizing the following Active Directory
identity: Team Foundation Valid Users. Exception message: Error in the
application..

But after that I have a bunch of:

TF200029: Team Foundation Server completed group synchronization. All
group and user information is up to date.

So it looks like it was a one off. Any other ideas? I'm trying to work
out the relationship b/w the ADObjects table and each project. This user
has 1 row in the UserPermissions table which from what I can see maps
the users to the AreaID - what is AreaID a key for???

Hi Karl,

My understanding is that the Assigned To list comes from the ADObjects
table in the TfsWorkItemTracking database and only includes the rows
which have ObjectCategory = 2 (Users) and fDeleted = 0, not from the
warehouse.

I have come across a scenario in TFS 2005 where users weren't being
synchronised because their DisplayName contained parenthesis which
resulted in an invalid LDAP query. This was uncovered because of
messages in the Event Log. Have you checked the Event Log on the
Application Tier for any warning or errors?

Regards,

William

Subject: [OzTFS] Some users not showing up in Assigned To drop down

Hi All,

We're having a strange problem. For some reason in the last few weeks,
when we assign people to projects, they do not appear in the Assigned To
drop down in any work items. Initially I thought it was the warehouse
not being updated (it hadn't run in a few weeks), but I ran it manually
and the problem has not been fixed. Any ideas? Can I 'rebuild' the
warehouse? Where is the Assigned To retrieved from? Any advice would be
greatly appreciated ;)

Many thanks!
Karl
