I've also discovered the "treeclean" option in tfpt, meaning I don't need to
manually do a clean of all the solutions first.

The following command will delete all files in the current folder and
sub-folders that are not under source control. Warning, it'll whack your
solution and project user options files too :)

tfpt treeclean -delete

I've had reasonable luck with this very approach, though once you copy stuff
over, do an attrib -r *.* /s on the destination folder, or tfpt online won't
recognize the additions.

(You can even take this approach multiple times with successive labels from the
source tree to preserve a semblance of history. TFPT will recognize deletions,
too, if you're careful how you copy stuff.)

Try this:

Do a checkout from TFS2008 to create the local workspace (I'd assume it'll just
be an empty folder at this stage).

Copy your source from the TFS2005 workspace to the TFS2008 workspace. You
might want to do a clean on the TFS2005 project first so you don't copy bin/obj
files, etc.

Use the TFS 2008 Power tools command "tfpt online" (check the options) in your
TFS2008 workspace folder. You should then see all the files as pending adds
and you can do a check in from there. Job done :)

Subject: [OzTFS] Copying files from TFS2005 server project to TFS2008 server
project

Heya,

What are my options for copying the source tree from a project on a TFS2005
server to a project on a TFS2008 server? I'm thinking I can do it via a local
workspace copy/paste but I'd like to know what other options there are. Source
control history isn't required but if there is an easy method that will bring
that across that would be a bonus.
