There are several default LS rules that allow any app to connect to any local
net address, and also, specifically, multicast, broadcast and 0.0.0.0 -
0.0.0.255. Now, in LS 1.2b5, there is yet another default rule that allows any
app to use TCP on port 548 in the range 254.0.0.0 - 254.255.255.255 for
AFPoverTCP.

Please forgive my obvious ignorance, if you will, and explain why it is that
all these rules but one are not redundant. To the uninitiated, it would appear
that the rule "any app, any connection to local network" covers all of these
requirements.

And if I may try someone's patience a bit more: what is new in OS X 10.4 that
requires AFPoverTCP?

(An enquiring mind seeks edification ;-)
Thanks
