Good point. Many of us, myself included, have email software that automatically includes the entire message being responded to in the reply message and the user must manually delete any extraneous text.
We should, out of courtesy to each other, delete the bulk of already read text, leaving just what will be convenient for the reader to refer to. I try to follow my own advice, but succeed imperfectly. With my old AOL email program I could highlight text in the received message and only that text would be included in my reply, but my current Earthlink software automatically brings forward the complete message I am replying to. If anyone can tell me how to change my Earthlink email program to act like the AOL, including only highlighted text in the reply message I would appreciate the help.
