Many of us have gone to the instant-on tankless system provided by 
Excel.  I have nothing but good to say about mine.  No pilot, check out

I have been using the 6 lpm unit for 3 years now and I love it.  Got it 
for under $400.  Never had a situation where it could not keep up with 
the hot water I needed, actually had to turn it down because the water 
was too hot!
