I thought you had to run the blowers anytime the engines are on... Caterpillar 
recommends keeping them on all the time the engines are running. Says it helps 
get the engine enough are to run properly.

My boat was originally equipped with Jabsco bilge blower fans, ducted to the 
outside, that run anytime the engines are on.  It makes a big difference.
