Thanks for the info on the rectifier.  I'll put that in my files.

The voltage, unless it's too low, is held down by the battery and cannot go too 
high.  Overcharging with my seven PV panels and two wind generators has never 
been an issue.  The rare times that there has been a continuos excess of 
incoming juice are counted as equalizing charges.

I do have a regulator for the PV panels but it was a waste of money.  Too much 
electricity in seven years of harvesting electricity from the sun and the wind 
has simply not been a problem.

Hey Norm, just fwiw.
Yep...that's an AC Delco rectifier bridge out of an SI series 
alternator....That's a full wave three phase setup btw which would tend to 
increase the volts.
