Yes, I understand about starting friction and rolling friction overhead in
a wind generator and that it must be overcome before there is significant
output.
But as the wind speed rises, and the energy contained in that moving air
rises exponentially, the overhead fades to insignificance.
Then the amount of energy extracted from the wind cannot be more than the
wind contains, the generator cannot be more than 100% efficient, and since
the wind energy goes up to the square of the speed I do not see how the
output of the generator can be more than that.
