My satellite antenna receives HD all the time.

Most of the channels from Direct TV seem to be HD these days.

At first there were only a few HD channels and they were mostly transmitted
from the 110 ( above the 110 degree longitude at the equator) satellite, but
now most of the programs I see on the 101 satellite seem to be in HD as well as
much of the over-the-air digital TV.

If you can put the dish on a dock there should be no problem. There are dishes
with one, two, or three satellite receivers to catch the signals from multiple
satellites. But most of the programming from Direct TV is on the 101 satellite.

Be sure you don't tell them the rig is on a boat, you will not be able to see
local channels. I have no idea why. We get local (low) channels, and the
major networks (NBC, CBS, etc), over the air with a normal antenna.

I am at quite dock with Directv HD, not much movement, 38' sportsfisher,
works well, no gyro stabilized needed at boat dock. I don't think there are
any gyro stabilized yet for HD, antenna too big..

plus the DirectTV reciever and monthly subscription. But it does work well
