I also had problems with IE7 on my XP Pro (laptop).
Uninstalled IE7 and re-installed IE6, no problem since.

Subject: [Liveaboard] Computer fixed

Hello All,
Well I got my computer working again. I had to do a fresh install of XP.
Then I let the phone service guy at Microsoft do the installation of SP3
using the remote desktop (or whatever they call it now) function.

HERE is the problem. If you try to use SP3 AND Internet Explorer 7 your
computer will become unstable and crash, taking out the ability to boot.
Can you believe Microsoft released a 'final update' that could not handle
I.E. 7? It has been out for several years!!!
Oh well...
