We have 7 days on a O'Day 40. The kids make landing at a civilized port
every so often important. Pools are also good.

I'm sorry we'll miss you, we have to be back for the start of school. Where
is this summer go?

Stephen:

Everyone should have your problem! You are embarking on what is, arguably,
the finest cruising ground in the world. Rockland is a wonderful jumping
off point as the major Maine islands are just east of there. You have left
out one of the most important pieces of data: how much time do you have?
Also, do you want to anchor out or make a civilized port every few days?
Both are very possible and enjoyable. What will you be sailing?

I have cruised Maine for 35 years, and still do. If you give me an idea of
your timeline, I will suggest an itinerary for a first-time Maine cruise. I
will be spending the month of September cruising the Maine coast, so maybe
I'll see you there.
