I did the lake Champlain route n the way up three years ago.
The entrance to The lake from Quebec is a little tricky in bad weather
Has many shoals. Try to avoid fuelling up at Whitehall, NY.
The diesel at the marina is worse than crude oil.
Other than the longer route the scenery is beautiful.
The locks at the st Lawrence to Montreal are priority to large
freighters and the walls are kind of bad specially when rafting five boats
together. If you are the outer boat last from the wall keep your engine running.
You will need it to steer the group perpendicular to the wall.

We also are planning our first trip to the Bahamas. We will leave Lake Erie
this week travelling down the Welland canal, through Lake Ontario, down the St.
Lawrence River, Lake Champlain etc etc. Two years ago we went to the Florida
Keys using the Erie canal, starting in Buffalo. On the return trip we entered
Lake Ontario at Oswego. We like to try different routes, never the same way
twice if we can help it. We will probably cross over to the Bahamas leaving
the Miami area around the beginning of the year to Bimmini and on to Chub Cay
,down the island chain ending up in Georgetown. On the return we will probably
head North to the Abacos and cross over to Fort Pierce. Who knows, life is
subject to change. Cuba anyone?

Let's see here....in the recent past we've done guns, some grammar and
punctuation, a little politics and a little religion. Maybe it is time we
moved over into "my anchor can kick your anchor's butt." At least, that would
be somewhat boat related.

OTOH, we could talk about our cruising plans. Beginning in a couple of
weeks we plan to head up toward the Chesapeake Bay area and, then, toward the
end of 'cane season, to head south in order to make our first Bahamas trip.
Does anyone out there have similar plans. We'd like to buddy boat with one or
more boats who have been there and done that. Anyone?

Aren't we getting a bit far afield from boat stuff?
