Unstep the mast at Sorrel at the north-east side of the entrance to Richelieu River . US customs are at your STB side as soon as you pass the Canadian customs-nobody-there cabin. If it is night when you get to there you can tie up at the Canadian customs dock and wait for the sunrise. If you have a chart plotter use it for the depths and shoals. I motored all the way and it took me about 14 hours from White hall to Canada. When you get to Whitehall pass the lock and then tie at the dock on your right. It is free and the tourist information kiosk has free showers. Very nice town but dead. no work. You can buy property very cheap, dirt cheap. It is the birth place of the US Navy. It used to be free to use the locks. I think there is afee now for 1 day-2day or 10 day pass. http://www.nyscanals.gov/news/notices/index.shtml
