I'm not sure which is why I ask.

In a past life sold fire detection and supression systems used primarily
by the aircraft storage and refinery markets.

Halon suppression was an integral part of the systems.

In the early 1990s, Arco did a major upgrade of the fire suppression
systems on a North Slope project.

There was a lot of halon involved since it was the only way available at
the time.

The Arco project engineer advised me that if they ever had to use the
system, they faced a $250K fine which was expected to double within 5
years.

The cost of replacement halon was additional.

Arco had no options except to consider it a cost of business.

No longer involved in the industry so don't know current status which is
what prompted my question.
