Immediately above the text box in gmail is a link that says either "Rich formatting" or "Plain text." The link will switch the product of the message to the labeled type: if the message is currently in plain text mode the link will say "Rich formatting;" if the message is in HTML mode the link will say "Plain text" and there will be formatting buttons above the text box. As a general plea, in addition to everyone **please** using plain text, please make the minor effort to clean up your replies so there is not a string of long rambling previous messages.
