yeah I forgot the Aquarium.. thanks for reminding me.. the maryland science
museum is a disappointment.. with the smithsonian so close by. btw. the
national aquarium is a waste.. was NOT impressed with the national zoo too
much but it is free so what the heck..

the spy museum has been mentioned a lot as a place to visit..

I really like the FDR memorial in summer at night.. in fact all the west end
of the mall at night is dramatic.. fairly safe..
park rangers are like fleas, always there..
Memorial Day weekend is insane in DC, I forgot to mention.. its Rolling
Thunders 'ride to the wall'.. to honor our Vets and to remind people to not
forget our POW/MIAs.. otoh.. it is the best time to visit the wall and see
what people leave..

There are two cruising guiddes to the chessie I can reccomend.. the
traditional hard bound book and a smaller spiral bound.. totaly
seperate..but each very good in its own way. If you call up to Hard Beans
Books they usualy have a copy or two. its usualy last yrs but they don't
seem to change all that much and the price is always less than half the
current issue. Hard Beans is in annapolis.

last yrs editioin is $5.98 plus shipping.. daedalus is a great place to
find books..

As CT said.. Baltimore is a short ride from Annapolis.. we do have one thing
I can truly reccomend www.bookthing.org
its a local free book place.. open sat and sun 9am to 5pm.. all the free
books you can carry out the door, and carry and carry..
I have loaded up on paperbacks more than a few time. Cookboks and other
assorted books..all categorized..

I have to admit I will miss my huge asian/spanish grocery markets and
probably will have to give up my butane stove when I leave.. I get Butane 4
cans for $5.25 normal price. I will stock up before I go south though.

But as a stop for a boat, Annapolis is much better

It's not about the boat it's sails or rigging. It's about the freedom.
