The electric and water companies that I have witnessed using dowsing is
proof enough for me.

And I believe Arild when he says he had used it too.

Also I have read of conventions of dowsers that hold annual contests to see
who can find randomly buried coins in a field soonest.

Much depends on the proof criteria one must meet.  I suspect that like that
fuzzy-faced fruitcake in Florida, TheAmazingRandi, who has offered a
million dollar reward for "proof" of physic phenomena they will simply keep
moving the goal line forward as reasonable evidence is offered.  (much like
the anchoring fight going on today)
