Two of my designs are currently cruising in south-east Asia with 2V cell
battery banks. The biggest problem we have found is how to get rid of the
heat from charging. The ambient temps are over 100F daily, so any heat
gain from charging brings the battery close to maximum temp limits. The
builder did not provide sufficient fan ventilation.

Hawker proved somewhat difficult to deal with. They insisted on knowing
where I was located.
I pointed out that the client actually lived in Atlanta, not far from them,
but the boat would be built over seas. Even so, they insisted on using my
address to identify a dealer which happened to be in Montreal. The factory
people refused to talk directly to me. Of course when that dealer realized
this was not a sale they would be making, they totally lost interest in
dealing with me. All I was after to begin with was engineering spec from
the manufacture so we could make the best selection. We ended up buying
brand X from someplace close to the boat builder yard. Never mind the fact
almost all the electrical equipment was sourced in the US and shipped by
container overseas to the builder yard.
Hawker has a very rigid and antiquated sales operation and business model.
Still don't know details about their product quality. It looks good on
paper.
