My house battery bank is now going on 7 years. 6 Hawker<http://www.hawkerpowersource.com/products/powerline.htm>2V/495AH cells that have been attached to a Sterling Charger<http://www.mailspeedmarine.com/power-power-management/12v-battery-charger-power-pack12647-1264891.bhtml>. I have four 75 watt Seimens solar panels feeding the charger input circuit keeping the batteries up. When I sailed from Ft Lauderdale to Port Lavaca 4 years ago, I plugged into a shoreside socket twice in 5 months. That is with refrigeration. So these batteries have been used and misused/abused (low water levels) for their entire life. They seem to be still going strong.
