Actually there are a few pumps which shouldn't be used with an accumulator
tank. Haven't a clue why that might be since I'm not sure why the pump would
no the difference. One of these - and I have a spare one in the basement -
made by Sureflo. It's designed to cycle only during use. One of reasons I
purchased it was it said "No accumulator tank necessary" or something to
that effect.

The reason I purchased it was that over time I'd have air leaks in the water
system and if the pressure got too low,the pump would cycle on and off 'till
the accumulator tank re-filled. The pump without the tank made sense to me
since it would only cycle during use and while showering or washing dishes,
etc., the pump cycling wasn't bothersome.
