All guests and especially children MUST wear PFD unless they are below in the cabin. We have had our grandchildren as young as 8 months, but we've only had them without their parents when they were five or older. These are our own children and our own grandchildren - not unrelated children. Bob sets the rules and we've not had a problem with any of the children/grandchildren. > >Specifically do any of you "limit" how young children can be on board, >and who is responsible for them, and when these youngsters must wear >life vests? > Everyone and that includes us must wear the PFD if they are topsides anywhere. Also Bob requires shoes when on deck >Do any of you have a informal limit as to how long a guest can stay on >board? > We have only had one couple aboard going down the ICW for three weeks and that worked pretty well. Our boat is big enough that you can get away to be by yourself. Other than that we've just had daysails with unrelated people except one guy whose vacation plans fell through and he came and stayed with us at the house and on the boat for a week. >How does one politely tell guests that there are severe and rigid >limitations as to what can go down the toilet, how much water one can >use in the shower, turn the tap off when brushing teeth, and when to >help and when not to help around the boat. All the people we've had on board are either related to us or were old sailors who know about boats and boat toilets. We give the children/grandchildren the talk. Bob tells people whether to help or not. > >Do any of you state that small children (under the age of, let's say 5 >or 6) must be accompanied by their parents?
