OY!
Two years, maybe!
High on our list with Ed's is the grotto and the fabulous snorkeling in the
area from Cambridge through Staniel in the Exumas. Swimming with the sharks
(nurse!) at Cabbage. Great, relatively isolated, snorkeling/fishing in the
areas in the Southern Exuma chain.
If you have enough time, the Jumentos, if you like isolation and pristine, and
weather dependent, again, the snorkeling (and fishing/spearing). It's our
favorite of all the areas, but you're dependent on your own fuel and water.
Ragged has limited groceries, and the docks for the Defense Force may now be
finished at the end of the island, which could change the fuel and water
picture. If you were there for an extended period, Maxine at the grocery can
arrange nearly anything to be brought in on the mail boat, but it's a long
dinghy ride from anywhere you'd anchor to get in.
Nassau, aside from the attractions mentioned, and highly dependent on whether
you're dockers or anchorers, isn't high on our list, for lots of reasons.
Your timing makes going to George Town less of a Senior Citizens' Day Care
event, as nothing really starts happening there on an organized basis until
after Christmas. It's a nice place to visit when there aren't many cruisers
there, and the "official" (you may find someone who, as I did, when I arrived a
couple of weeks early last year, grabs the mike and starts it up) net won't
begin until mid-December. We personally prefer George Town in the off-season.
Eleuthera has lots of great explorations, too.
As a general help, I'd refer you to our log in the yahoogroups, below; it has
reports from our times in the Bahamas which may help your decision-making...

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be
trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinion drown out your own inner voice; and most
important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow
already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary". -
