Hi all,

I haven't posted here for a long time, and we're boatless. We sold our Cheoy
Lee Clipper last summer, sold our house last fall and now we're moseying
around Florida shopping for a liveaboard bluewater catamaran. Who knew there
would be so little on the market? We just assumed we'd find something in a
couple of weeks (and we started in early December) and be gone by now, but
here we sit in a cheap motel counting our dwindling pennies. Oy.

I've got two questions for the list:

1. Does anyone anywhere in Florida know of a short term rental (apt or
boat) where we can unpack our car and focus on finding a boat instead of
spending our days finding places to stay and something to eat? We're 2
clean, neat, quiet non-smoking 60-somethings who just want to be able to
cook a meal once in a while and not have to carry everything we own in the
car.

2. We'd appreciate any leads on boats that may be coming on the market
soon. We know of every single boat already listed with anyone, and a lot of
boats listed by owner, but there must be folks out there in your marinas or
neighborhoods who are getting ready to sell, thinking of selling, sitting on
the fence about selling, etc. We're looking for a 38-42 foot bluewater
catamaran in the $200k-$250 range. Yes, that's a tight budget, but there are
older models out there and we missed quite a few of them last year because
we couldn't really start looking seriously until we sold our house and in
this market there's no telling how long that could take. As it turned out,
our house sold in one day in a bidding war, so good for that, but it put us
out in the street way sooner than we expected, and in the bad part of the
year for boat shopping.

We've seen all kinds of boats. We really like the Manta 40 but there weren't
too many of them made, so they don't come up much. There are many more 42s
but they're more expensive.

We don't really want to start a mono vs. multi war, we just want to throw it
out there to you who are in marinas and might know of something that could
possibly be available.

Thanks, everyone.
