I have seen just these type of chocks, called roller chocks, on large ships.

As long as you can keep the rollers rolling they work fine.

They are required in the Panama canal (with or without rollers) where the
lines can actually lead upward toward the towing mules and are called Panama
Chocks.

I have read that anchor rope failure is usually due to heating at the bow
chock so a roller would be very useful there.
