The way ubuntu works is they pull all packages per release from upstream 
debian. I would file a bug report to have them update it but it would be 
for tthe 13.04 release as its getting quite close to 12.10 release. I 
would also ask in ubuntu-packaging on irc.freenode.net and see if they 
can bump it up for 12.10 as I am not sure what that procedure is.
