You can browse the PPA packages and search for LMMS, then install its
packages manually:

Thing is though, almost everything in that PPA is tested by me and others
daily.
There might be a lot of stuff in there, but it's for your own good (most
things are multimedia-related packages).
Any package problem found by users is quickly fixed by me.
