1, we're already changing the colour scheme. There are some examples of
the new colour scheme on this mailing list. Additionally, we're also
improving theming capabilities by allowing themes to define the colour
palette and making all widgets respect either that or the CSS, so
there's a way to create complete themes with nice colour schemes.

2, I'm not really sure if the SID needs a redesign. It's tempting in
these kinds of projects to go nuts with redesigning things and start
changing everything... but change for the sake of change isn't good, and
frankly I feel that the SID is one of the better looking plugins. It has
a retro feel to it, which reflects well the chip it emulates. The
gameboy plugin is another good one that I don't think needs a change.

Of course, if you're able to produce something literally amazing,
something that is clearly superior to the current artwork, then maybe...
but personally, I'd rather you'd concentrate on something else that is
in more of a need of new graphics. If you're looking for things to
contribute, I could suggest a few things that need doing... for example,
if you want to do plugin artwork, the Organic plugin could use a redesign.
