This question is exactly why I went the MacPorts route, because we'd need
to try to mimic Toby's wget stuff. At first this seemed reasonable...

I actually typed up an email to Toby to see if he perhaps grabbed DLLs from
Cygwin or something to prevent building all dependencies from source, but
then deleted the email when I got my dependencies met... even if I had
gotten these dependencies properly, there would be no guarantee they'd
build and I'd have to start determining how to install them within their
own sandbox, which on Windows seems practical, since windows could care
less of 99.9% of these libraries, but on OSX, well... There's some
potential for disaster there...

What I probably would have done (skipping Toby's DLL listing) would be a
base ubuntu server and then apt-get lmms-deps and save the listing to a
file and start finding matching tarballed versions. It quickly became
evident to me why MacPorts and Homebrew exist and I decided to take my
chances with the pre-packaged src/bin ports from MacPorts and the
instructions show that it actually works fairly well.
