They are because you need to have a future API in mind that we can use
in LMMS. Hacking in web resources later is more work (I experienced
that a few years ago with the current LSP).

@Vesa: the resource framework including UI is completely flexible. You
can still have arbitrary tabs and "mount" whatever local or remote
resource DB wherever you want (it's a model/view architecture based on
Qt's model view architecture). It was even planned to make this fully
configurable. People like you could remove the LSP tab at all.
