Well it looks like lmms.org is hold by a company whose website is located
at lastmilemobilesolutions.com.
I tried contacting them via (a) the contact from on their website and (b)
the email address lastmilemobilesolutions....@proxy.dreamhost.com (acquired
using whois).
I sent them this message last Wednesday:

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is […], I am a member of the development team building the free

After 10 years of development, we are still looking for a good domain for

 (a) You're website is located at www.lastmilemobilesolutions.com.

Considering those points and the fact that .org stands for "organization"

Is it possible for lmms.org to be transferred to us and be used for

I hope for an agreement to both your and our satisfaction, and I'm looking

Let's see if they'll answer… I don't have much hope though.

Apart from that, the domain expires this Friday (2014-05-16T08:11:44Z).
It's unlikely, but as the company has never used the domain, they may not
update it?
