- First off I'm inquiring as to whether or not we can set this as a
milestone for 1.1. I can decide this as an individual, but I'd rather do
it as a team.
We've made a lot of progress as a team with Mac support and most of that
has been done with the help from people that don't own Macs. Jonathan
hasn't helped and he likely won't... well, he *did* help fix a missing
dependency on the wiki, but I'm not holding my breath for help with mutex
locks, sorry.
- Secondly, the LLVM compiler is available for GNU Linux, so we *should*
be able to reproduce these deadlock scenarios on Linux. The SF2 bug is
sporadic so fixing it is likely to help the project moving forward.
- Third, I have ways to give developers access to a Macintosh. At this
point, I'm even willing to rent a Mac in the cloud if it's incentive to fix
these.
- Lastly, I can't do this alone. We all have our expertise's and C/C++
is not YET one I can offer. (I hope you realize with my commits that I'm
working hard to change that).
But a bit of clarification, I'm only familiar with a Apple since I joined
discussion with this team. I own it for business reasons. Specifically,
Java testing. I never owned one before and I had never tried developing on
one prior to joining this team.
Back to the topic... I'd rather not beat up the Mac topic if it's not a
*team* priority for 1.1. I think there are items which the entire
community can help pitch in with. Once we establish these as priority, we
can reach out for help. If Apple doesn't fall on that list, then I'd like
to assign resources to something that does. (i.e. help QA/QC the new FX
mixer, help test and provide presets for our new instruments, fixup
drag+drop, help with outstanding artwork, closing other minor bugs etc,
etc.) Does that makes sense?
