Pink, brown etc. noises are just white noise ran through a filter. 
(Although, if you want to get philosophical, everything is just white
noise ran through a filter... a sine wave is just white noise filtered
through a very narrow bandpass ;)

Basically: white noise is noise where all frequencies are at equal
volume. It's equivalent to white light which has all frequencies of
light equally.

Grey noise is noise that is equalized along the psychoacoustic loudness
contour, so that all frequencies *sound* to be at equal volumes to human
ear (even though they're not). In other words, grey noise is noise where
the "loudness" (perceived volume) is equal on all frequencies.

Pink noise is noise where the volume of each frequency drops off on a
curve so that each octave contains an equal total volume of noise.
