Is there any other alternative? Can't we just, for example, push a correct package as a regular "update" to the previous package? I'd think it shouldn't be that hard to correct a broken package, and let's make this clear here: the package that is currently in the Ubuntu repos *does not work* - it's not just a question of "it's the wrong version", it plain and simple doesn't work. There's constant reports of crashes and all kinds of problems - it's just plain unusable. I find it hard to believe that the Ubuntu packagers couldn't just replace this package, when it's clear that it's not working correctly. Have they responded anything to the email you sent them? > Utopic already has a better version in it. That's beside the point. Trusty is the LTS version, and the version in Trusty is the one that most people are going to get. Not only Ubuntu users, but users of all distros who use Ubuntu repos, such as Mint 17, Kubuntu, etc... most people use the LTS version because it means they don't have to bother with updates for the next 2-5 years, and especially people who are new to Linux tend to use the "safer" LTS version - the people for whom things like compiling and maybe even PPA's are not necessarily options. So you see that it's paramount that the package in Trusty gets fixed. I can't believe it's been broken as long as it has... This thing is seriously hurting the image of LMMS and potentially turning people away from it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HPCC Systems Open Source Big Data Platform from LexisNexis Risk Solutions Find What Matters Most in Your Big Data with HPCC Systems Open Source.
