Yeah, and the upgrades were somewhat limited because at the time, it was
decided that the new style should retain some elements of the old LMMS
0.4.x theme, that it should have some of the look & feel retained.
It's not the most modern theme, and it's not the most visually flashy,
the main point in the design of the current theme was to create
something that doesn't make you want to tear your eyes out after having
to look at it for hours - something that is clear, simple, easy to
understand and functional.

Well, I don't really mind if someone improves on my work. However, on
the subject of rehauling the entire default theme, I'll say the same
thing I told Digitizer... the problem is, that the default theme needs
to be maintained, and it needs to be maintained by someone who can
really commit to it - we can't have someone just dropping off a new
default theme and then moving on to other things. We need a theme that
is constantly maintained with lightning speed and pinpoint accuracy, so
that when new features are implemented, the corresponding GUI elements
for them are created instantly.
So for now, the best you can do is create alternate themes for LMMS. Who
knows, if your theme ends up way better than mine (and Digitizer's), and
you can show that you're able to maintain it through multiple versions,
/and /you'll share all the source files (in .xcf and .svg formats, no
proprietary .psd files), then it's definitely possible that your theme
could become the new default at some point in the future.
As of right now, we're not changing the default though.
