=+1 from me too. The distinction between mute and off here is a valuable 
one. I also agree that it's a workflow issue - therefore a system wide 
default is a great solution eg: Denis needs off not mute. I need mute 
more than off, but off is useful on occasoions too. The benefit of mute 
"notes only" as decribed is that controllers' are up to date with the 
timeline and that means that a return of the note stream will mean the 
modules/vsti/effect will be at the same point as the playhead not 
somewhere back in time. Maybe a centre click on the mute button will be 
off and the tab turn blue or somwething? or add an off column perhaps 
for a per track option.
