Thanks for testing :).
My system is Arch, so I'll test it all today. I have not tried 
git+git://repo.or.cz/calf.git - will try today!

Robert, just a stupid question... What branch are you using for testing? 
lv2 is outdated now, as all recent changes are on master.

P.S. I have the same issue as Tim - sometimes calf guis are just blank 
until reopened. I think that it's a gtk2 problem while embedding in qt4 
(or a qt4 problem?). Anyway I'll check it. And I have no crashes. May be 
compiling calf from git above will give me different results.

Robert, can you get stack traces of your crashes? it would be nice if 
you can compile calf with debug info too.
