Alright, I am installing Ubuntu studio in a virtual machine but haven't
gotten to testing yet, I will let you know.

In 2.2.1 MusE would always ask you the first time a gui was opened, in 3.0
it was changed so there is a setting in Global Settings -> GUI behaviour
(at the bottom of the list).
I see now that I no longer get a question with 2.2.1 for calf and kxstudio
so I might be mistaken.. or they changed how calf is packaged. Might be
worth a test anyway.
