Being in the translation business for 8 years now, I feel ashamed not knowing this tool. Anyway, I will certainly investigate on its possibilities and report on it if anyone is interested.
As for OpenOffice.org files, they can also be translated with Trados. You just have to know the intricacies of Trados (which in my opinion is a bad CAT tool, but just as with operating systems and office suites, it is not always the best tool that has the majority of the market).
By the way, I have an 'unofficial' version of Trados 5.5 which circumvents the need for a dongle. Should anyone be interested...
