I don't use (explicitely) configureAndWatch().
In my webapp I just place a log4j.xml in the /WEB-INF/classes directory and I
let log4j configures itself automagically. According to the javadoc
documentation (for the log4j.properties, no mention of log4j.xml) the automatic
configuration uses configure() and not configureAndWatch().
I'll show if LogManager.shutdown() at context destruction helps.
