It seems we also have a different problem here. Do we really want an NPE to 
blow up the whole stack when we call 
{{org.apache.logging.log4j.core.util.Loader.initializeClass(String, 
ClassLoader)}}. Perhaps our call sites should catch NPE or even {{Exception}} 
in the addition to the current catches, log the exception to the status logger 
and then continue.
