Cool. If there's no impact to other layouts I wouldn't worry and just merge it.
I'll take a look at it tomorrow. One thing: I recently added
Constants.ENABLE_DIRECT_ENCODERS to use as a kill switch to revert back to the
previous classic way to do layouts in case there's a problem after we release.
May be a good idea for all appenders to use.
