I would recommend turning off the request for read notification. It is kind of annoying, and generally bad etiquette to use read notification in a list situation. That may account for your low response rate.
I do read a lot of the posts that go by, but being a newbie to log4j I don't respond to them, and I absolutely don't send read notifications back.
