Logic for Philosophy
http://tedsider.org/books/lfp.html

This will be a textbook for a "logic literacy" course. It was designed
for beginning graduate students in philosophy, but it is also suitable
for advanced undergraduate courses. The goal is to introduce students
to the logic they need to know in order to read contemporary
philosophy journal articles. It emphasizes breadth rather than depth.
For example, it discusses modal logic and counterfactuals, but does
not prove the central metalogical results for predicate logic
(completeness, undecidability, etc.) It will be published by Oxford
University Press.

"This book is an elementary introduction to the logic that students of
contemporary philosophy ought to know. It covers i) basic approaches
to logic, including proof theory and especially model theory, ii)
extensions of standard logic (such as modal logic) that are important
in philosophy, and iii) some elementary philosophy of logic. It
prepares students to read the logically sophisticated articles in
today's philosophy journals, and helps them resist bullying by
symbolmongerers. In short, it teaches the logic necessary for being a
contemporary philosopher."
